Principal’s Newsletter – December 2017

I would like to wish everyone a happy and safe holiday season.  Have a restful and fun vacation.

Holiday Shows

The dates for the Holiday shows are:

Grades 1, 2, 3 – Dec. 12

Grades K1 & K2  – Dec 13

The shows will begin promptly at 9:30 AM.

Parent Conferences

Individual Parent Conferences will be taking place in January for all grades.  You will be receiving a letter from your child’s teacher with a specific date and time for your individual conference.

Book Fair

The parent run Scholastic Book fair will be held on Dec. 11—15.  Parents are invited to see the fair.  Please see flyers for additional times and information.

Winter Recess

The last full day before vacation is December 21.  Winter Break ends on January 3.  All students should report back to school on Wednesday, January 3, 2018.

Report Cards

Report cards will be distributed on December 15.

There will be no Kindergarten report cards this marking period.

Holiday Show Seating

Due to the overwhelming amount of visitors that attend our holiday shows we will not be allowing siblings from other classes or grades to sit with their parents to see the show.  The students will get an opportunity to see the show in its entirety prior to the winter break.  Thank you for you assistance and understanding.

 Toys

Students are not allowed to bring toys to school.  This includes Pokémon and other card games. Thanks you for your   cooperation.

The Beethoven is always collecting Boxtops for Education from Kimberly Clark brand products. Did you register your Stop & Shop card? The Beethoven will accept donations of Kleenex and paper towels.

Scholastic Book Fair

Beethoven Book Fair December 11-15 (online November 22-Dec 11 — http://www.scholastic.com/bf/beethovenelemschool)

If you order your books online by December 6, you will have them before the holiday break. The online store is easy to search and has a wider selection than we will have at the school book fairs.

All classes will have a chance to go to the fair. Check with your child’s teacher for date and time. Parents and others can stop by during open hours to shop. There will be “wish lists” from teachers, so you can purchase a gift for your child’s class. You can also download the Scholastic Book Fairs App and shop right from your phone.

**All proceeds go to programs at our schools, so share the link with family and friends who want to do some holiday book shopping. **

Thanksgiving Recess

Please note that Wednesday, 11/22 is a half day of school. Dismissal begins at 1:10 pm. Be prepared for the buses to get to the stop two hours earlier than normal. We will return to school on Monday, 11/27. I would like to wish everyone a happy and safe Thanksgiving holiday.

Mark your Calendars

The dates for the Holiday shows are: Grades 1, 2 3 – December 12 / Grades K1 & K2 – December 13

Safety in the Schoolyard

With the upcoming elections on 11/7, please be extra cautious driving in the schoolyard during arrival and/or dismissal times. The community voters are not aware of the driving routines that have been established in the schoolyard. I’d like to thank everyone in advance for their patience and help during the election days this year. We are expecting a very high voter turnout.

During a regular dismissal day the school buses have priority to leave the schoolyard. Please pull your car as close to the front of the schoolyard as possible and avoid parking toward the entrance of the schoolyard by the playground. Thank you.

Lost & Found

Our lost and found is filling up at record rates. Please write your child’s name on their jackets and sweatshirts. If they end up in the lost and found, they can be returned.

Library Books

Many library books are getting damaged by water. Please be sure water bottles are secured in backpacks and away from the books.

Calling the School

When calling the school please identify your child by first and last name, grade level and their teacher’s name. We have 350 students and it helps us to identify students quickly and safely.
