Meeting took place on November 18, 2014,  6:30pm-7:30pm
Beethoven-Ohrenberger Parent Council meets on the 2nd Tuesday of every month at 6:30 p.m.  The location alternates between the Beethoven Auditorium and the Ohrenberger Library. December’s meeting will take place at the Beethoven School. Childcare is provided.
PRINCIPALS’ REPORT
Ms. Krakow will be out on maternity leave from January through July. Mr. P will split his time between the two schools. Ms. Holbrook will help with administration at the Beethoven. Mrs. Blake will fill in for Ms. Holbrook as needed.
Beethoven Construction almost done!!!  The elevator has passed inspection.
Mr. P’s brother is chief medical officer on his base in Afghanistan. We are planning to do a collection to send to his unit.  We need a coordinator for this.
MEETING NOTES
Bake Sale Update:  Thanks to all the volunteers and bakers. We sold out of baked goods at both locations. We discussed the possibility of selling pizza by the slice in the evening next year.
Winter Outerwear Give or Take and Drive for Cradles to Crayons Update: We collected more outerwear than ever before. Many people took items during International Night. We had three bags left over to donate to Cradles to Crayons.
International Night Update: Many thanks to all the volunteers. It was well attended, and the food was fabulous as always.
Playground Upgrade: The final meeting occurred last week. Plans are nearly finalized. Construction will begin on July 1, and the Parks Department hopes to be finished by Labor Day. For more info, contact Cathy Ware.
Enrichment activities after school at the Beethoven: Jen Koch is looking at programs and costs, and she will discuss this with Mr. P.
Launch Fundraiser: Visit the Launch Trampoline Park on Tuesday, March 17 (Evacuation Day), from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. and mention the Beethoven/Ohrenberger School, and 25 percent of admissions prices will come back to us. This is open to anyone, not just BTVN/O students so feel free to post on social media. Flyer attached below.
Restaurant Fundraiser: Chrissy Jewell is looking into a restaurant fundraiser. This would be a day that when a percentage of the proceeds from the restaurant would come back to our school. Options are Bertucci’s, UNOs, and Mangia. There was support for going with a local business like Mangia. Chrissy will get back to us with details.
Treasurer’s Report:
Ohrenberger paid the fee to renew our domain name.
We have asked Ms. Krakow what the school needs. There is a possibility of buying Chromebooks and paying for field trip buses.
Visiting Procedures at Ohrenberger: Anyone who visits the school MUST sign in/out and only go to the location(s) you have reported to the office. Remember that in order to volunteer, parents must complete a CORI check.
West Roxbury High School: There was the beginning of a discussion about how to turn WR High School into a great neighborhood school. Ideas discussed were parents taking a tour together, organizing a community meeting, and spreading the word about success stories.
Making Music Matters:
Raffle: The goal is to raise enough money to keep the program going until the end of the year, as funding for the program continues to be cut. Prizes to be raffled off: iPod Shuffle with $50 iTunes gift card, Dr. Dre Beats headphones, iPad Mini, and four prime tickets to The Boston Ballet’s production of The Nutcracker on Sunday, Dec. 14. Raffle tickets will be distributed to all students to sell in books of six. Tickets and money need to be submitted by Wednesday, Dec. 3, and the drawing is on Friday, Dec. 5.
3rd Grade Mini Concerts: On Oct. 29, six Beethoven students performed the flute. Ohrenberger’s 3rd grade mini concert took place the same day as the Harvest Parade on October 31.  The students performed in costume.
