From the Principal – March 2012

February was a very busy month. I would like to thank the Parent Council for their two activities last month. The craft fair was a wonderful activity for a Saturday morning. On another note our “Souper” Bowl Food drive collected 846 items for the Roslindale Food Bank. Thank you for your support and attendance of these activities. Thank you to the Parent Council for having such an array of activities for our families. I would also like to thank the Parent Council for the new chairs that were purchased for the Auditorium. Setting up for shows and events will be much easier now. Thanks!

Green Day
We will celebrate Green Day on Friday, March 16th. All students are encouraged to wear green on that day.

Art Show
The Second Annual Art Show at the Beethoven School will be held on Thursday, March 29th. It will be from 5—7 PM. It is a wonderful evening to see the art work. All classroom teachers will be there so you can check in with them about your child.

What’s For Lunch???
Ever wonder what is for lunch and you do not have your menu available. You can go online to www.schoolmenu.com and find out what is being served at school.

Save the Date!!!
Get ready to start cooking your favorite ethnic dish. International Night will be on Thursday, April 12, 2012!

Parking Lot Safety
Please use the Crosswalk! Please use the Crosswalk! Please use the Crosswalk! Many students are running in between the buses during both arrival and dismissal and we want everyone to be safe.

During the month of March grade 3 will be taking the English Language Arts portion of the MCAS test. As the test is being administered we need to have some small changes to the Beethoven. The Computer Lab will be closed during testing times and students will receive Science during that time. A complete calendar of the testing dates will be sent home with the students.

MCAS Prep tips:

  • Early to bed
  • Eat a good breakfast
  • 100% attendance
